Where we work

A PBI volunteer accompanies OPIM president Obtilia Eugenio Manuel as she meets with the wives of the 5 OPIM prisoners. These 5 prisoners have been declared prisoners of conscience by Amnesty International. Four of the five were released on March 19, 2009.

Mexico city

PBI has an office in Mexico City that not only coordinates the project's activities and maintains contact with embassies and authorities. In Mexico City PBI also accompanies Emiliana, Alejandro and Francisco Cerezo Contreras, members of the Cerezo Committee.

Guerrero

PBI has been present in the state of Guerrero since 2001 and currently accompanies a variety of organizations including indigenous groups, environmentalists, and human rights organizations.

Oaxaca

PBI has received several petitions for accompaniment from the state of Oaxaca since its inception. In October 2008, PBI opened a local office in Oaxaca City in order to better respond to these petitions.
