Tita Radilla de AFADEM se reúne con un voluntario de PBI

The Mexico Project field team is made up of volunteers from many countries who accompany people or organizations under threat, make regular visits to conflict zones, distribute information about the evolution of the conflict, work with civil and military authorities and carry out public relations and lobbying work to generate international support.

This international support is made up of a wide range of institutions, members of parliaments, NGOs, church organizations, civil servants and members of the diplomatic community, who have expressed their support for the work of PBI Mexico.

The Project works according to the philosophy of nonviolence, within the framework of international norms of human rights, under a strict respect for local laws and is independent of political and religious agendas. The Mexico Project receives funds from many public and private institutions of different countries, which allows it clear financial independence from any organization.

Areas of work

Accompaniment

The Mexico Project team provides international accompaniment to people and organizations whose work to promote human rights is affected by repression and threats to their lives as a result of their non-violent work. We aim to provide the necessary level of protection so that human rights defenders can continue to defend human rights without fear of violence or reprisals.

Public Relations

The Mexico Project volunteers maintain continuous contact with Mexican civil and military authorities, embassies present in Mexico, and the United Nations. In these meetings we inform authorities about our concern for the people that we work with and we ask them to participate in our support and protection work.

Publications

The San Francisco project office distributes information produced by the team in Mexico about the human rights situation in Mexico. This information comes from public sources.

Workshops

At the request of local NGOs, the Mexico Project offers workshops in security training for members of NGOs, human rights leaders, and communities.
